What's your initial reaction to Cisco acquiring Splunk?

Great move..
I think it is a great move for both companies looking to expand their customer base.
Nothing ever dies in Enterprise. Why did Broadcom Software buy Symantec and VMWare, why did SDX Central post a story today about MPLS and how it lives on. Why is the hot news about cloud repatriation becuase a terrible app on premesis is even worse in cloud.
I see this as Cisco buying more ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) for the next probably 10 years with increases only generated by increase cost to customers.
No one I know of uses cloudwatch in AWS to send data to Splunk unless their company cannot understand how to consume cloud. I wish Cisco all the best (btw my IE number is 5449 so been doing this a long time). I miss Cisco and innovation but that mantle has moved to others and continues to do so.
I would also ask why does Cisco have two separate and distinct product lines for Ethernet switching... same answer in Enterprise nothing ever dies.

Cisco has increasingly become a software company that happens to sell networking equipment as well. The acquisition of Splunk could be a great opportunity to closely align Cisco's zero-trust and other cyber/security products in with Splunk's SEIM capabilities. One thing I will be watching closely for is how Cisco might change the Splunk licensing scheme.
